Fortune Cards (2025)

At the end of 2024, I decided to make a set of fortune cards to share some good vibes with my family and friends for the new year. I created 25 cards, each with a different fortune on the back.

Since I would be seeing everyone around Christmas, I wanted these to feel separate from the usual holiday festivites. I based them on the first new moon of 2025, which also lined up with Chinese Lunar New Year.

The front of each card features an original artwork showing the positions of the sun and moon on the morning of January 29, 2025, at 7:35 AM EST. I added Mercury, too, even though it wouldn't have been visible in real life, just to further emphasize the celestial theme.

The cards were printed on 18pt card stock with a satin matte coating, giving them a nice soft finish. On the back, each card has a fortune in English and Spanish, plus a few lucky numbers. I hand-numbered the cards from 1 to 25 with a gold marker, which matches the gold envelopes. I also included a little stick-on easel so the cards could be displayed if people wanted.
