OVERVIEW

Hip-hop at its purest, Blacklight pairs producer Apollo Brown’s analog grit with Stalley’s thoughtful, understated lyricism. The album is soulful, mid-tempo, and richly textured. Its beats crackle with warmth, and Stalley’s verses glide between vulnerability and resilience, giving the project a timeless quality. Together, they shine a light on the overlooked and unspoken with confidence and clarity.

The visual identity for Blacklight began with a cover illustration by Chris B. Murray, which set the tone for a high-contrast, neon-colored world. Building on that foundation, the full suite of packaging was created, including LP, CD (housed in a retro longbox), and cassette layouts, along with merchandise, social headers, and promotional assets. Additional illustrated elements were introduced to the back cover and a custom LP inner sleeve, which carried through to every format. The CD longbox extended the front cover illustration by including more planetary/space elements. The logo treatment above the title and the color palette were both drawn directly from the cover. Special care was given to the LP, which was printed with blacklight-sensitive fluorescent inks. To achieve this effect, each color from the illustration was carefully separated, resulting in a final product that bursts with vibrant detail and a true-to-title glow.

The cover art, illustrated by Chris B. Murray, inspired a bold and cohesive visual system. Packaging for LP, CD (in a retro longbox), and cassette was designed around the original artwork, with added illustrations, vivid colors, and a custom LP sleeve. The LP edition features fluorescent blacklight-sensitive inks—each color meticulously separated to preserve the artwork’s energy and glow across all formats.
