OVERVIEW

On April 8, 2024, I witnessed a solar eclipse for the first time. It was absolutely stunning! From my vantage point in New York City, it was a partial eclipse, but nearly full where I was. To capture the moment and channel the inspiration I felt, I created these two pieces, illustrating the moon’s position at 3:25 PM and 4:05 PM EST.

Fun fact: My Jean Goode logo features a hidden sun and moon. I often use these two shapes not only as my logo mark but also as subtle motifs in artworks that depict celestial themes like this one. In the lower right corner of each piece, you’ll see the familiar circular forms from my logo, echoing the alignment of the eclipse.
